padding-left: 0;\"><strong>Video 1 Transcript:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To relink media:\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I reopen my existing Premiere project<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the Scratch Disk Settings dialogue window opens:<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I make sure my external Editing Drive is connected to my computer because the Editing Drive is where I\u2019ve stored the media that Premiere is looking for.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I click the first \u2018Browse\u2019 button and navigate to the Premiere Media folder on my external hard drive, double-click to open it and click \u2018Select Folder\u2019<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I repeat this action by clicking on each Browse button in the window.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I click \u2018Ok\u2019.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, the Link Media dialogue window opens because our external Editing Drive wasn\u2019t attached or we moved media from one location to another.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the dialogue window, I click on \u2018Locate\u2019 in the lower right corner.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A file browser window opens and in the window on the left, I click on my external Editing Drive.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the window on the right I double-click on the folders LLL Media,\u00a0 Demo Media and then Craft Making Media.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, in the lower right of the dialogue window, I click on \u2018Search\u2019.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Premiere highlights a Clip that correlates to the media it is looking for.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I click \u2018OK\u2019 and the software links the media to all the Clips it can find.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some situations, Premiere may not automatically find all your media to relink. If at any time Premiere indicates that your media is offline, go to the File pulldown menu, select \u2018Link Media\u2019 and follow steps four to eight again to relink the remaining offline media.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This process underscores the importance of being organized and keeping a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1qwUukSmH45ynyl95LAVM7ZQoCtBdi_tL\/view?usp=drive_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">backup log<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em> of where you backup your editing projects and media.<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;10px||5px||false|false&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||||false|false&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you try it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you haven\u2019t already done so, disconnect your external Editing Drive from your computer and open your Editing Exercises Premiere project.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, connect your external Editing Drive and link the media following the steps outlined above.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019ve successfully linked the media, return here to continue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Segment mode editing is a technique that we use to move and rearrange Clips that are already in a Sequence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Three-point Editing module, we completed an assembly of Mr. Poole\u2019s craft-making activity. As emphasized earlier, the first Assemble should be a rough edit that effectively communicates the Scene\u2019s contribution to the overall story. In this case, the Scene showcases Mr. Poole working on his craft project, with the goal of illustrating how people with mental disabilities can live independently and manage their basic needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the normal course of our recommended editing process we would not refine this Scene any further until all the film\u2019s Scenes are assembled and strung together in a rough narrative structure. We will go into detail about this recommended editing process in future modules.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re introducing you to Segment and Trim Editing tools at this time because it\u2019s best for the logical flow demanded by the training curriculum. To do so:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I right-click on my Assemble 1 &#8211; Craft Making Sequence in the project panel and select \u2018Duplicate\u2019, towards the top of the pop-up menu.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This action creates a copy of the Sequence, which I then re-name as \u201cAssemble 2 &#8211; Craft Making.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, I double-click on this new Sequence to open it.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, I close the Assemble 1 &#8211; Craft Making Sequence in the Timeline by clicking the \u2018x\u2019 next to its name.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now let\u2019s use <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Segment mode editing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tools to rearrange Clips within the Sequence.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To review the Sequence I drag the blue Playhead line to the beginning and press Play.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One issue is that the second to last Shot \u2013 the Medium Shot (MS) of Mr. Poole through the screen of his front door \u2013 feels redundant. To <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remove this Shot<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I use the Selection tool to click and highlight the Shot in the Sequence.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I press the Delete key on the keyboard.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This action removes the Shot but leaves a gap in the Sequence.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To remove the gap I can right-click on it and select \u2018Ripple Delete.\u2019<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But I want to remove the Shot and close the gap in one step.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I \u2018Undo\u2019 twice to revert to my original Sequence.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I select the Shot again. To demonstrate, I\u2019m going to remove the portion of the first Shot in which Mr. Poole sits down.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I drag the blue Playhead line to the beginning of the Timeline.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mark an In-point.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I use the JKL keys to find the \u2018Out-point\u2019. I want Mr. Poole fully seated and beginning an action. Let\u2019s try stopping at the Playhead position 00:00:02:12 which can be seen in the blue numbers in the Program monitor and Timeline.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I press the \u2018O\u2019 key to set the Out-point.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now I have the option to use either the Lift or Extract tools beneath the Program monitor.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I click the Lift tool.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To better see what happened, I activate the Timeline and press the + key to zoom-in.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lift tool removed the selected portion of the Shot but left a gap in the Sequence. I think it will put the viewer in the position of wondering what they are looking at and what is going on, but without creating confusion.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To move it, I click on the Shot with the Selection tool and drag it to the left.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As I move it a downward blue arrow icon appears, indicating I\u2019m in \u2018Lift-and-Overwrite\u2019 mode. The Shot snaps-to each transition point, indicated by the white marks.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I drag the Clip to the beginning of the Sequence, snap it to the transition and drop it.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This action lifted the Shot from the Sequence, where it left a gap, and then overwrote a portion of the Shot in the location where it was dropped.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s take a look.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve lost a lot of the first Shot which is not what I wanted to do.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I Undo.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This time I select the Shot and while I\u2019m dragging it I hold down both the \u2018Ctrl\u2019 and \u2018Alt\u2019 keys. The icon now changes to a blue arrow pointing right and then wrapping around to the left, indicating that I\u2019m in \u2018Extract-and-Insert\u2019 mode. I drag the Shot until it snaps to the beginning of the Sequence and drop it.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Shot was extracted from its original position and the gap closed.
